(Romanian pronunciation: [nikoˈla.e toˈnit͡sa]; April 13, 1886 - February 27, 1940) was a Romanian painter, engraver, lithographer, journalist and art critic. Drawing inspiration from Post-impressionism and Expressionism, he had a major role in introducing modernist guidelines to local art. Born in Bârlad, he left his home town in 1902 in order to attend the Iaşi National School of Fine Arts, where he had among his teachers Gheorghe Popovici and Emanoil Bardasare.The following year he visited Italy together with University of Bucharest students of archeology under the direction of Grigore Tocilescu.During that period, together with some of his fellow students, Tonitza painted the walls of Grozeşti church. In 1908 he left for Munich, where he attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts; he began publishing political cartoons in Furnica, and contributing art criticism articles to Arta Română. Jose Malhoa
(Caldas da Rainha, 28 April 1855 ; Figueire dos Vinhos, 26 October 1933) was a Portuguese painter. Malhoa was, with Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, the leading name in Portuguese naturalist painting, in the second half of the 19th century. He painted often popular scenes and subjects, like his two most famous paintings, "The Drunks" (1907) and "Fado" (1910). He always remained faithful to the naturalist style, but in some of is works, there are impressionist influences, like in his "Autumn" (1918), that can be considered as an "impressionist exercise". He saw at the end of his life, the inauguration of the Jose Malhoa Museum, in Caldas da Rainha.

Flemish Northern Renaissance Painter, ca.1510-1550 Flemish painter. Both van Mander and Lampsonius recorded Bouvines as his birthplace, although Guicciardini gave it as Dinant. The identification of Herri met de Bles with Herry de Patinir, who was a master of the Antwerp Guild of St Luke in 1535, is generally accepted. He may have been related to Joachim Patinir, possibly a nephew. In the Pictorum aliquot celebrium Germaniae Inferioris effigies (Antwerp, 1572) of Domenicus Lampsonius, Henricus Blesius Bovinati pictori is portrayed aged 40, sporting the type of clothing and beard that were fashionable in 1550.
